A Romantic Mikado A-Line Look: Adelia’s Stunning Bespoke Dress for Her Pre-Wedding Shoot
Share with us about your love story. How did you meet and where?
We first met on Tinder back in 2020. And we have been together for coming on five years now!
What was your first impression of each other?
Brandon: My first impression of her was that she talked way too much!
Adelia: For me, I thought he talked way too little when we first met.
What do you love most about your partner? What made you fall in love with your partner?
Brandon: For me, what I love most about her is her loyalty, and the fact that Adelia is a very caring person.
Adelia: He cares deeply for others! And he’s not like most guys and is truly very special to me.
How did your partner propose? Share with us your proposal story!
Brandon knew that I felt very strongly about having our proposal done a certain way: I wanted our friend to capture the moment, I wanted to dress up, and I wanted to have my nails and lashes done.
Brandon told me we were going for a pre-wedding photoshoot so we’d have more photos to display at the wedding. While that was true, it was also his way of getting me dressed up for the actual surprise.
Unknowingly, I threw many curveballs their way, much to Brandon and my friend Sam’s dismay.
I spontaneously said I wanted to go art jamming, even though that wasn’t part of the plan. They were rushing me quite a bit, especially when I said I wanted to leave our artwork to dry. But they insisted that we needed to get to Botanic Gardens before the weather turned bad.
Reluctantly, I complied. We walked around while they stalled for time.
We eventually went to the grandstand and took some photos, when another wedding party rudely tried to “push” us out of the grandstand so they could capture their moment.
Brandon and Sam had told me to let them use it first, knowing that this was the very spot where Brandon planned to ask me to marry him. Being stubborn, I said, “No way!” We came here first, so they could just wait.
Out of nowhere, Brandon’s group of friends appeared from beneath us with a bouquet of roses for me, and Brandon got down on one knee and popped the question!
Also, not to mention, technically, he didn’t quite manage to get down on one knee because he was on crutches!
About the pre-wedding photoshoot outfit
For Adelia, the perfect wedding gown was a little bit of her own vision and a little bit of what she loved in our existing designs.
She fell in love with the back of our LEAH gown, and we brought that inspiration together with her own ideas to create something uniquely hers. The result was a Mikado wedding gown that balances romance with modern structure, featuring a flattering V-neckline, a sculpted bodice, and a thigh-high slit that adds just the right touch of contemporary elegance.
The detachable off-the-shoulder sleeves offer two looks in one: a softer, romantic silhouette for the ceremony, and a clean, understated neckline when removed. At the back, a sheer boned design and a delicate row of covered buttons lead into an 80 cm train, creating a beautiful finishing touch.
