How did your partner propose? Share with us your proposal story!
He proposed in our living room. We bought an older house that we’ve been renovating, and for the first week after we moved in, we slept in the living room because it was the only room in the house that had a floor. It’s become our reminder of how much we’ve accomplished together even when things get hard or stressful. After I said yes, he surprised me with a weekend getaway to San Francisco, so he definitely gets points for effort!
What’s one thing you guys always agree on / disagree on?
The best thing to spend money on is travel and seeing the world.
How did you decide on having an elopement and what was your inspiration behind it?
We wanted our wedding day to be stress-free and just about us, which is why we decided to elope. We always talked about having our honeymoon in Italy, so we thought it would be amazing to get married there too. We found an elopement company called Somewhere Crazy and it seemed like a perfect fit - who wouldn’t want to get married somewhere crazy? It was the perfect wedding day that we’ll never forget.
Were there any unexpected surprises throughout your wedding journey?
It was supposed to rain on our wedding day, but we were prepared to be flexible and brought umbrellas. However, as soon as we walked out onto the terrace for our ceremony, the sun came out. It stayed out for the whole afternoon while we took a water taxi around the city to celebrate and take pictures.
What made you choose the Shelly gown?
I kept looking for a gown that was simple but felt special enough for our wedding. When I saw the Shelly gown I loved it, it was so unique in the design and felt so elegant when I tried it on.
Did you add your own special touch in styling your bridal look?
I wanted a classic look, so I kept the jewellery simple with pearl earrings and my grandmother’s pearl bracelet.
What was the most memorable part of your wedding that you love up till today?
My favourite memory was dancing in the Piazza San Marco after our ceremony. It was full of people, but we were in our own little world and didn’t even notice. That was how the whole day felt - like it was just the two of us celebrating our love without a care in the world.
Advice you have for brides-to-be...
Remember that this day is about your love! The little details don’t matter in the end, relax and just have fun celebrating with your partner.
