Share with us your love story. How did you meet and where?
We met at law school and have been together for eight amazing years!

How did your partner propose? Share with us your proposal story!
I told Jamin I wanted to be proposed to overseas and even sent him a few dreamy locations on Instagram. Jamin delivered and brought us to a beautiful villa in Ninh Van Bay, Vietnam. One of the activities at the villa included a trek up to a viewpoint, and the trek was advertised as being easy and “for all ages”. Jamin therefore planned to propose during the hike and brought a camera and a tripod.
However, that quickly turned out to be false as the path up to the viewpoint was quite treacherous, and at one point, we had to be on all fours to climb up a steep incline!
We were all sweating so much from the trek, and he must have realised it was not a good moment to propose, so he ended up just doing it at the villa, which was a much better idea, haha!

How did you decide on your wedding date and venue?
We didn’t want a banquet-style wedding, and we wanted to keep the dinner more intimate with around 150 guests, so the space at Alkaff was the perfect size for it. We also wanted a space with some heritage, culture, and greenery, and Alkaff fit the bill perfectly!
We had no particular date in mind, but I originally wanted the wedding to be in Oct (my fav month haha), but when we enquired at Alkaff late last year, the October dates were all full, so we just picked one of the available dates! We thus leaned towards a summer-y wedding, and Alkaff had the perfect English garden in the summer vibes.

What were some of your biggest challenges you faced during your wedding planning?
It was quite stressful leading up to the wedding, as I spent a lot of mental energy planning the aesthetics and vibe of the wedding since they were really important to me. I also chose to design/custom-make a lot of things, from my engagement ring and cheongsam to my wedding dress and our wedding favours. We didn’t want generic wedding favours that would be thrown away or collect dust in homes, so we thought really hard about what to do for wedding favours.
We decided to order pastries from a shop in Golden Mile Market, but they did not have nice-looking boxes to pack our wedding favours, so we had to order them from Taobao and fold them ourselves, which was what we were doing two days before our wedding!
However, the wedding day itself was a breeze, thanks to my family and friends, who stepped up and made sure everything ran smoothly. The only thing we really had to do on the actual day was to smile and remember our vows! Oh, except that Jamin wanted to emcee the games part of the wedding too...

What made you choose to do a bespoke gown with Bone & Grey and what did you like the most about it?
It didn’t cross my mind that I could custom-make my own wedding gown until I went to Bone and Grey! One of my closest and oldest friends (Jials! Read her #BGBride feature here) and I were getting married around the same time, so we went dress shopping together, and she made an appointment for us at B&G.

We also went to many rental studios and tried on many gowns together. While I liked many of the gowns I tried on, none felt like “the one.” Instead, I liked different parts of different gowns, which I wished I could combine. Thankfully, Bone and Grey was able to do that for me and at such a reasonable price!

How did your friends or family react when they first saw you in your wedding gown? What did you like about it?
That it’s “so me” haha! I like that it's so unique and has all the elements of the different gowns that I like!
Was there a special touch added to / a special way of styling your B&G gown and why?
The fact that there are detachable pieces that really transform the dress!

If you had multiple outfits, please share your decision for the multiple outfits and the vibe you were going after!
I also wore a cheongsam for the tea ceremony, which is beautiful and custom-made.

What was the most memorable part of your wedding that you love up till today? How did you feel throughout the day?
It was a whirlwind experience in the best way! We were surrounded by so much love from family and friends (and of course, each other), and we had the best vendors who made everything so effortless on the actual day, from the many different vendors to the staff at Alkaff Mansion.
