Behind the Dress: The Beauty of Going Bespoke
Looking for a custom wedding dress that feels truly you? Sometimes, you have an idea of what your wedding dress should look like, but finding it off the rack isn't quite as easy. Maybe it's a particular neckline, a fabric you love, or little details you'd like to bring together from different dresses.
That's where a bespoke wedding dress comes in. Creating a custom wedding gown gives you the freedom to explore your ideas, work with our founder, Joy, and bring everything together in a design of your own.
Whether you're visiting our Singapore studio or based overseas, there are different ways to create your bespoke bridal gown with Bone & Grey Bridal.
Here's a closer look at what goes into creating a wedding dress that's made around your ideas, from the first conversation to the finished gown.
Share Your Vision

Every bespoke gown begins with an idea. It could be a collection of Pinterest saves, a favourite silhouette, a detail you've always loved, or even a few different dresses you'd like to take inspiration from.
Don't worry if you don't have everything figured out just yet. You can share what you like, what you don't, and how you'd like to feel in your wedding dress. Photos, sketches and references are all helpful, but there's no need to have a complete design in mind before coming to us.
Your initial consultation is a chance to talk through your ideas with us, explore different possibilities and figure out what feels right for you. We'll help you consider the details, from silhouettes and fabrics to little design elements you may not have thought about, so you can gradually bring your vision together.
Bring Your Ideas Together

This is where your ideas start taking shape. From necklines and fabrics to silhouettes and finishing details, we'll work with you to bring your vision together, offering advice on fabric choices and silhouettes that complement your proportions.
Take our #BGBride Cally, for example. With her husband having a suit made for the wedding, she wanted a matching bridal look of her own. But rather than going the traditional tailoring route, she wanted something more feminine and distinctly bridal.
Working one-on-one with our founder, Joy, Cally brought her ideas to the table while Joy offered her creative input. Together, they developed a two-piece suit set featuring a structured satin jacket, a delicate French lace skirt and a statement lace cut-out at the back. The result was a look that balanced sharp tailoring with romantic details, bringing Cally's vision to life in a way that felt uniquely hers.
As a small, hands-on team, we value this personal approach, giving you the opportunity to work closely with Joy and create a gown that reflects your own style and ideas.
Your Bespoke Journey, In-Studio or Online

You don't have to be in Singapore to create your dream gown with Bone & Grey Bridal.
For brides visiting our studio, in-person consultations and try-ons offer the opportunity to explore different styles and discuss your design face to face. But if you're based overseas, the entire bespoke process can also be done online, from discussing your vision to arranging measurements remotely.
Just ask our #BGBride Hannah, who worked with us entirely online from Australia to create her bespoke wedding gown. Her experience shows that you can bring your vision to life with us, even from across the world.
For measurements, we'll send you a guide to help you get started. You can take them at home, or pop by a local tailor if you'd prefer to have someone help you with it. And if you're ever unsure whether you've got a measurement right, don't worry! Just check with us and we'll help you double-check before moving ahead.
Once your gown is completed, we can arrange international shipping, with time allowed for any final alterations you may need locally.
Book an in-studio or virtual consultation with us to share your ideas and explore the possibilities for your bespoke wedding gown.
From Design to Final Gown

Once your design is finalised, your gown moves into production. From fabric selection to the finishing details, each element comes together to bring your vision to life.
Bespoke gown production takes approximately three months. We recommend getting in touch at least six months before your wedding to allow time for consultations, design development, production, fittings and alterations. Overseas brides should also factor in shipping and any local adjustments.
